Pravit “Vit” Rojawat was born on May 31, 1961, in Bangkok, Thailand, to Tumroung and Meng Jeng Rojawat. He grew up and completed his education in Thailand. In October, 1990, he moved with his family to Wayzata. After some training, he joined his family in Marshall where he worked tirelessly as a server, cook, and manager at the Hunan Lion Restaurant. Vit was exceptional at his job and made many friends with his customers. He was also a talented artist. His art is influenced by the beauty of nature which he depicted by painting tropical scenes, flowers, marine and wildlife. He had solo art shows in Marshall and Minneapolis and participated in group shows in New York, Covington, Louisiana and other places. Vit also loved to cook, drink wine, and was an excellent baker. He will be remembered for his smile and his very positive outlook on life.

Vit passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Thursday, January 9, 2020, at his residence in Marshall. He is survived by his sister Sarah and Joe Ektanitphong of Marshall, nephews Teddy and Nick in college, close relative and good friend Karen Tonglim, and seven siblings in Thailand. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dear Vit:

I will miss you my friend! I always looked forward to seeing you when I came up to Marshall on summer holidays to visit friends. The Hunan Lion was always first on our list of restaurants to go to while in Marshall. In addition to the good food, half the fun of having dinner at the Hunan Lion was seeing you and talking to you. Your warm welcome, your kindness and your interest in others was very endearing!

Vit you will be greatly missed!

My condolences to your family!

I am so sorry to hear about Vit’s passing he is going to be well missed at Hunan Lion. He has touched so many peoples lives at Hunan Lion he is a very hard worker. He putty much ran the place he would be getting on the cooks in the kitchen checking on the food to keep his comstomers happy. The main thing I am going to miss of Vit is that every time my parents and I come in he always new what we all drank for pop and what we always ordered for food. Sometimes we would want to try something else he would have to start over with the ticket.

Our heartfelt sympathy to Sarah & Joe, Teddy & Nick, and Karen. "When a candle goes out so suddenly, the darkness can be overwhelming . . . but in the heart there is a glimmer of light - because love holds the memories that gently keep glowing forever." Its seems surreal to your family, friends, the Hunan staff, and patrons that Vit is truly gone from this earth. As many have expressed - Vit's memory and customer service were phenomenal. He greeted you by name, conversed about subjects important to you, and knew your menu preferences. His artistic talent was unique and beautiful. He was a wonderful person and great friend. We met Vit (Sarah and Joe) over twenty years ago, when our daughter worked for the Hunan Lion. We are grateful that meeting has evolved into a cherished friendship. We miss Vit, and will always remember him. Hugs and love from Shirley & Roger Przybys, Sara & Nabil and family.
