Mass of Christian Burial for JoAnn Gerlach, 80, of Green Valley will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at St. Clotilde Catholic Church in Green Valley. Visitation is from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Rehkamp Horvath Funeral Home in Marshall, with a 4:00 p.m. Rosary and a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service. Visitation the day of Mass is from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at St. Clotilde Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Clotilde Catholic Cemetery in Green Valley.

JoAnn Marie (VanOverbeke) Gerlach was born on August 7, 1938, in Tracy, Minnesota to Arthur H. and Julia (Matthys) VanOverbeke. On September 30, 1955, JoAnn was united in marriage to Henry “Shorty” Gerlach. She was a lifelong member of St. Clotilde Catholic Church. JoAnn worked at Kelco and Carrow’s Formal Wear as a seamstress. She enjoyed being out in the garden and flowerbeds during the summer and in the winter making flannel blankets. JoAnn was an excellent baker and enjoyed sharing her baked goods with her family. Mostly she enjoyed spending time with her family.
JoAnn died surrounded by her family on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. She is survived by her children, MaryJo Domine of Tracy, Sharon Proctor of Marshall, Deb (and Robert) Andres of Marshall, Steve (and Michelle) Gerlach of Kensington, Melinda Gerlach of Marshall; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; siblings Delores Sumption of Breckenridge, Gordie (and Solveig) VanOverbeke of Lucan, Eugene (and JoAnn) VanOverbeke of Eagan, Kathleen (and Paul) Moen of Minneapolis, Mary Ann (and Rich) Memmer of Ventura, California; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry, parents Arthur and Julia, sister LouAnn VanOverbeke, brothers Donald and Norman VanOverbeke, son-in-law Kennedy Proctor, and father and mother-in-law George and Elsie Gerlach.
She will be greatly missed by many. Blessed be her memory.
