Diane Marie (Vierstraete) Buysse was born on June 15, 1948, in Marshall, to Maurice and Wanda (Trahan) Vierstraete. She grew up in Green Valley. Diane attended country school in Green Valley until the school closed. She then transferred to Marshall and graduated from Marshall High School. On October 28, 1967, she was united in marriage to Robert Buysse. The couple made their home in rural Green Valley. Diane worked for the Schwan Food Company for a time but her primary avocation was being a home maker. She enjoyed time with family, especially her grandchildren. Diane enjoyed having a good time. She liked to shop and go to the casino. She and Robert also enjoyed time at their lake home, first at Lake Cochrane, and later at Lake Amelia.

After a six year battle with cancer, Diane died on Sunday, December 13, 2020, surrounded by her family at the Prairie Home Hospice Lockwood House in Marshall. She is survived by her husband Robert, of rural Green Valley; children Denise Buysse of Marshall, Tim (and Linda) Buysse of Marshall, Kari (and Mark) VanMeveren of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren Brittany, Cade, Caleb, Jordan, Max, Tyler, Ella, Kalley and Maddie; siblings Larry (and Nadine) Vierstraete of Marshall, Jeanine (and Steve) Eggert of Grand Junction, IA, Glen Vierstraete (and Sharon) of Gary, SD, and Lisa (and Tim) Livingood of Green Valley; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father Maurice, mother Wanda, sister Linda in infancy and step-father Leo Arends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Holy Redeemer School.
