Obituary

The funeral service for Charlotte Sherman, 83, of Franklin, formerly of Balaton, will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Balaton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in Balaton. Interment will take place at Lakeside Cemetery in Balaton.

Charlotte Fay (Fagg) Sherman was born on January 30, 1936, in Lewisburg, KY, as a twin and the youngest of ten children born to Claude and Jessie (Hall) Fagg. Charlotte’s mother died when Charlotte was only 18 months old. She attended grade school in Lewisburg. At age 14, she moved with older siblings to Detroit, MI, as her father was experiencing declining health. Charlotte continued her education in Detroit by taking business classes at Wayne University and worked as a telephone operator. On August 3, 1953, she was united in marriage to Edgar Wallace “Wally” Sherman. After Wally’s honorable discharge from the service, the couple moved to Franklin, MN. To this union were born children Beatrice, DeAnna, Dale and Reinhart. In 1969, the family moved to Balaton to fulfill a lifelong dream of owning a farm. In this wonderful family environment, their foster daughter, Sara, joined them in 1972. Charlotte worked at various jobs including as a Physical Therapist for Mr. Lyle Jacobson for over 20 years. Charlotte was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Federated Women’s Club. She enjoyed vegetable gardening, canning, crafts, and was an excellent cook. Charlotte was most passionate about spending time with her family.

She died on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at the Franklin Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Franklin. She is survived by her children Beatrice (and Chris) Olsen of Marshall, DeAnna (and Gary) Sandquist of Minnetrista, Reinhart (and Johnny) Sherman of Timberon, NM, daughter-in-law Darleen Sherman of Balaton, foster daughter Sara Connelly of Marshall, grandchildren Dawn, Ashley, Danielle, Ryan, DeziRae, Martin, Jessie, Justin, Channel, Holly, Sandy, and Matt; great-grandchildren Izak, Karter, Austin, Kaisin, Mia, Jett, Evonn, Caroline, Tucker, Owen, Maddie, Brooklyn, Avery, Bentley and Adison; sisters Shirley Simons of North Carolina, Myrrhl Strohecher of Kentucky and Jane Stockslager of California, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Dale, six siblings and father of her children Wally.
