Adeline Mary Lanoue was born on January 18, 1930, on a farm north of Milroy to Camille and Mary (Jacob) Lanoue. She attended school at the Milroy Public School and at the age of 14 the family moved to a farm southwest of Milroy. Adeline then attended school in Tracy and returned to Milroy Public School for her senior year, graduating in 1948. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Raymond Meulebroeck in the cold of the winter on February 23, 1949, at the St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Milroy. The couple was married at 10:00 a.m. with a reception at the Atlantic Hotel in Marshall and a dance at Sabons Hall in Tracy. Since their marriage, they have farmed land two miles east of Green Valley for three years; six miles south of Cottonwood for ten years, and in July of 1961 they purchased property six miles east of Russell beginning on their anniversary in 1962, and moved to Marshall in 1991. This couple was blessed with six children: James, Thomas, David L., Dennis, Elaine and Mark. Adeline was involved with church groups who made quilts and sewed t-shirts. They sewed 4,084 shirts for those in need in Guatemala with Adeline personally responsible for more than half. Other interests include gardening, baking, making Christmas ornaments for her grandchildren, playing cards (especially “Pepper,”) playing Bingo and making Belgian Cookies. She was most fond of spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Adeline died on Monday, January 28, 2019, at Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. She is survived by her children Tom (and Vicki) of Marshall, David L. (and Karen) of Pipestone, Dennis (and Lorraine) of Balaton, Elaine (and Jim) Prust of Estherville, IA, Mark (and Rhonda) of Balaton, daughter-in-law Lynda of Marshall, 17 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, siblings Leonard Lanoue of Tracy, Agnes (and Gene) Thooft of Tyler, George (and Mary) Lanoue of Marshall, Bob (and Judy) Lanoue of Mora, Vincent (and Jeanette) Lanoue of Tracy, Ernie (and Elizabeth) Lanoue of Ivanhoe, brother in law Myron Thielges of Marshall, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. I was saddened to hear of the passing of adeline I so enjoyed working with Ray and her on their farm financing and also with all of you children in 4-H! She was the glue that held everything together even in the tough times. In addition she raised a truly admirable family. I will cherish the memory of her as a really good person. May GOD bless all of you and the memory of her.
